There are now 4 of us meeting just once a week to draw and paint down in the Cumberland Basin. I took watercolour because it was just too hot to dabble with oil and white spirit and I painted on top of another painting. Now in oil I do this all the time and oil is opaque and covers the under painting when you need to and can be scraped back too, to reveal the underpainting. I did'nt think it would work in watercolour but I think it did. The result it - interesting.
The top painting is of the Underfall Yard. The painting underneath is one of the few watercolours I have kept because I prefer oil. Given the title of the blog - I will go back to oil pronto.
